This year's CAPPA conference was in Scottsdale, AZ and it was amazing. I met other labor and post partum doulas as well as labor and delivery nurses that are passionate about changing the image of the "Americanized" birth. The conference was 3 days long, though I was only able to stay for 2, as I had to get back to Denver for my husband's 10 year high school reunion.

On the first day of the conference, I was able to travel to Tempe Arizona, home to Arizona State University, and I loved it! It was the "Pearl Street Mall" of Tempe. There were so many shops, restaurants and local street performers-it was a really great place to experience.

On Friday, we had a cocktail networking party. It was a wonderful way for all of us to get dressed up, chat and get to know one another. The first photo is of the doulas who work in Denver ( and Summit County!). I was excited to build my resources, and to learn other doula's "tricks of the trade".
